My Journey as a Personal Trainer
I started in the fitness industry in 2009 and have grown my client base and reputation since then for being a professional, results driven personal trainer. I initially earned my stripes working at a commercial gym for two years, which was a great way to gain knowledge and experience. As my client portfolio grew, I decided it was time to establish my own gym, and so I opened Ufit Personal Training. While there, I ran many successful fat loss camps and group exercise classes and helped hundreds of clients realise their goals through one to one sessions. It was with great pride that all my hard work at Ufit was recognised when I was awarded NI Personal Trainer of the Year in 2018 at the NI Health & Fitness Awards.
Moving to Dubai and Becoming a Fitness Manager
After eleven successful years running my own business, I was offered the opportunity to move to Dubai and become a Fitness Manager at Optimal Fitness. After a year there, I was able to double their membership, restructure and improve the performance of a team of personal trainers and increase the reputation of the gym. It was a challenging and worthwhile experience, but I have now decided to get back to what I am most passionate about – one to one personal training.
Launching My Online Personal Training Platform
The next step on my journey is to condense all that experience into my new online personal training platform, Tony Deeney Fitness. Here, I will be able to continue to grow, learn, and develop as a trainer so that I can deliver the highest possible level of service to my clients. It is an exciting moment for me to put all my focus back on the client instead of the distractions that come with running a business.
My Philosophy and Reputation
To date, I have fourteen years of experience working in the industry. I tend not to specialise in a certain type of client or goal, as I believe—no matter what your level—being consistent with the basics is the fastest route to success. I have now built a reputation as a trainer who is reliable, trusted, and someone who will go above and beyond to ensure my clients achieve what they set their minds to.
Improving My Skills and Helping Diverse Clients
Throughout my career, I have strived to constantly improve my skill set by attending seminars and courses, competing in powerlifting competitions at a national and international level, holding my own sold out nutritional seminars, writing a fitness article for a local magazine and working with an obesity group at my local hospital. I have experience with many training methods, nutritional protocols, and, most importantly, hundreds of different clients with vastly different needs and goals. This gives me the confidence to be able to work with anyone at any level.
